Maxi Dress Fever

I am in LOVE with maxi dresses.. I have seen so many beautiful tie dyed maxi dresses that I have been tempted to get, but I feel wierd wearing someone elses when I could make it myself. Most anyone who knows me personally would surely say, "Wow, did you make that?" And I will have to hang my head in shame and say, "No.. I did not." Sounds silly but I just love making my own! & It is really hard to come by a white cotton maxi dress for a decent price!

Speaking of that, this is THE most beautiful white cotton maxi dress I have ever seen. Sadly, it is sold out in my size and way out of my budget anyway! But wow, it would have been so beautiful. I use to make and sell my tie dye, but now I pretty much just do it for myself (and family galore). I love it when it's more of a hobby! But, I still have some tie dye tshirts that are on sale from last summer for only $5 and a couple of tanks on my etsy, so if you are interested the website is: http://www.gethappytiedye.etsy.com/

A sure plus of making your own tie dye rather than buying it: The price! I try to keep the prices on mine low, but most handmade tie dye sells for a fortune! It takes talent, time and effort to make the clothing but it's not very expensive to do yourself if you are willing to take the time to learn how and do it right. It can become a worthwhile hobby that results in a very cute wardrobe! :)

I made this dress last summer, it was my very first tie dye dress! I bought it white for (I wanna say) $14. I love how adorable the colors and the pattern turned out!

I'm off to bed, GOODNIGHT! :)

Underground Fan

I got this idea for a tshirt :) I don't know if you've ever seen those tees when an underground band first breaks into popularity, but usually their original fans have tshirts that say,

"I liked ______ before they were cool."

I think it's cute! So I designed this tshirt on customink.com, & it turned out pretty cool. I'd like to get it eventually and.. TIE DYE it! :D Bet you didn't see that coming, ha! :)

Those Summer Camp Tees

When most people think of tie dye, they picture those speckled tshirts they made at summer camp when they were twelve. And ofcourse we've all become familiar with the good 'ol tie dye tshirt that we yank out of our closets for spring cleaning. But I look at tie dye a little differently.. It's great to be able to express myself by the way that I dress, by making what I dress! Like any tie dyer, I started out making only stereotypical tshirts, but now I am absolutely in love with dresses and anything crocheted. Tie dye definitally takes some skill, but having the right canvas to work on can turn a simple tie dye into something extra special :)

This blog is, if you hadn't noticed, a tie dye blog :). I have plenty to post, but we'll take it easy for the first go-around. And I'm sure you'd like to see something I have made.. This is my favorite tie dye. I originally bought it white at Old Navy for $20. I was shocked at the price, that's amazing! It is really nice quality and it hits the floor right at my ankles. There is a beautiful crochet design towards the bottom of the dress and under the bust. I love it :). I have wanted a maxi dress to tie dye since last summer, and I finally found the perfect one!!

I LOVE it! I thought it needed a little extra something, so I added some wooden beads to the front and to the ends of the straps. It definitally made it extra special :)

I will have PLENTY more where that came from. I am tie dye obsessed! And since it's summer, there is nothing stopping me :)
